Guatemala Journal Entry for 6/23/01
Woke up this morning about 6:45am
No group devotional because Steve took off at 4am to fly off for
another group. Mark broke the news that we need to leave at
5:30am tomorrow morning for the roof pour. Yikes.
Tried to take a picture of the little girl by the flower shop,
that I saw every day so far on our drive, but she was again busy
with customers and the bus didn’t slow down – let alone stop for
a photo op. ;)
Breakfast – beans, platanoes (like bananas), bread, corn flakes,
eggs
Played with the kids a bit, then went with Claudio to prepare for
our clown act
Clown act – dinning (fork moves, Claudio tied to chair, we used
kids’ shirts for napkins), table spinning on our heads, juggling,
zoo sounds (birds, elephants, monkeys, pigs, rooster, lions, etc),
picked up the empty water bottles (4 gallon size) and started
juggling, tried to juggle kids (throwing back and forth), short
skit where we weren’t supposed to touch the chair (church lesson
with sin)… it was very hot in that little church with all the kids,
but I had a blast!
Claudio and I, and Pedro and Mike, partnered up to build the cement
scaffold platforms that would be used to pass buckets up and down
in tomorrow’s concrete roof pouring
We ate in other people’s houses. Ruth, Steve, Laurie C and I all
ate together at one family’s place. We had a good conversation, but
communication was a bit limited . She really wants us to write (to
her granddaughter especially) because no on ehas written in the past.
I will be the first one to write.
