My hobbies have of course transitioned over time, but for the last few years my main hobby has been volleyball. I started playing out of college, when I moved to California. The weather was so nice year-round and the talent was readily available, that it just seemed natural to adopt a sport indigenous to the area. Unfortunately I was never blessed with professional training or instruction, but continued my learning curve by watching others. I enjoy the sand better than grass or indoor because of the digging, soft landings, and higher energy level required... but indoor improved my level of play when I was introduced to plays and form. I acquired "Superman" as a nickname from various teammates, for my ability to cover the court with all my careless flying thru the air. In California I played at work (Intel), in local gyms, public parks, and at Santa Cruz (a beach in northern CA). After moving from California, the level of volleyball talent has dropped tremendously, but at least I have this site for reminiscing. <smirk>
